Help us bring hope to shattered lives

Our first children's home was opened in 1999 with just 4 children by Alice Jukes at Thika, 30km north of Nairobi.  As the numbers increased, it became clear that we would need to move to larger accommodation.  After seeing the quality of care that our children receive, a local women’s cooperative kindly donated an acre of land to KCC in Ngoingwa and we were able to build a new children’s centre.

The girls moved into the first house at Ngoingwa in 2008.  We wanted to retain the family feel and so the house has been designed with four wings on two floors.  Each wing forms a family unit with six bedrooms for 12 girls and their house mother.  We have a second building alongside containing a nursery school, a computer education unit and a community hall.   The Ngoingwa Centre is an impressive landmark for the area and was officially opened by Peter Kenneth, Minister for Planning in the Kenyan Government.   Alice, who worked as a children’s social worker in the UK for 10 years, is Director of the Centre.

Ngoingwa Centre for Good Future

Kenya Children Centres is a UK based Charity operating in Kenya through its local NGO "Orphan Children Centres".

Our UK organisation approves care standards, monitors operations and controls local payments.  With the help of our team of enthusiastic volunteers, we find sponsors for the children, raise funds for education and outreach projects and communicate with our supporters. Local Trustees supervise day to day activities in Kenya and Alice Dukes, the Project Director, manages the team of carers, teachers, social workers and support staff.
